The Havens are centres of excellence in the care of people who have been raped or sexually assaulted. Our work is internationally recognised as gold standard in the field.

Our training and resources

Victim care is at the heart of our bespoke outreach training which we can arrange for clinical and/or victim support teams; our specialised and accredited courses; and our educational resources.

These are all aimed at healthcare professionals who want to improve their knowledge of the key issues surrounding sexual violence, including:

  • the services available
  • how to support victims
  • best practice in forensic examination and aftercare
  • giving evidence confidently and effectively in court.

Our employment opportunities

Although the nature of our work means we do not offer shadowing, placements or volunteering, we do have employment opportunities for suitably qualified candidates.

Most of our healthcare staff, including our doctors, are female. Posts are genuine occupational qualifications under the Sex Discrimination Act, sections 7(2)b and 7(2)e.
